It’s easy (and wonderful) to immerse yourself in the world of Downton Abbey, the lives of the Crawleys and the staff downstairs. But each episode features historical names, places, references, sayings, and cultural tidbits that might have slipped by. This site will give you annotated notes on each episode (and all three movies) so that you don’t miss a trick. I am a retired librarian by trade, and I love researching. This site is very much a personal labor of love, but I hope others find something useful here as well.
This is a work in progress; there are 52 episodes and 3 full-length movies to Downton Abbey, and dozens of references to be annotated in each. We start at the beginning with Season 1 , Episode 1, and see where it takes us.
