Immersing yourself in the world of Downton Abbey is a delight: the lives of the Crawleys and the staff downstairs feel like a familiar place we can’t wait to visit again. But it’s also a strange land full of entails, underbutlers, dowagers, fat stock shows, debutante balls, dukes, ladies, and scullery maids.
